When The Student Is Ready...

The Teacher Will Appear.

We’ve all heard this saying, right? Well right now it feels like I am just tripping over teachers right and left so I must be ready. There is not enough time in my day to absorb all the information that is coming to me and it’s really quite thrilling. From Tony Robbin’s Get The Edge cd’s that I have finally started listening to, to one of my favorite books, “Living with Joy,” by Sanya Roman calling out for immediate attention, to the emails I receive from Bill Phillips calling me to take action in his 2010 Transformation Challenge, the Michael Beckwith PBS special that just happens to be on in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep, the RFR featured video from Philospoher’s Notes and of course the lesson on Sunday at My Spiritual Center, which always seems to be expressly for me.

The importance of expressing gratitude is the one lesson these all have in common right now and the power of what you give your attention to. It’s almost comical how often this topic comes up right now but they say there are no coincidences in life so I must pay attention. Here is what I’m learning:

Whatever you appreciate and give thanks for, will increase in your life.
Whenever you stop to thank the universe for the abundance you have, the universe will give you more. As you give thanks you open your heart. Your heart is the doorway to the soul…it allows you to open to receive more
.~Orin

Michael Beckwith says:
Everyday you go on a hunt for what to be grateful for, your mind becomes an avenue of awareness of gratitude and because of that more and more can begin to flow into your life.

Michael Beckwith's  Three Stages of Gratitude:
1. Being grateful for all in your life. ( ie: every gift, person, deed, positive moment, every capacity within you.)
2. Being grateful for the negatives in your lifeSeeming negatives are merely opportunities to bring you growth and activiate potential. Tony Robbins equates this to working out with weights in the gym. Without resitance you do not build muscle or character. You would not grow without resistance.
3. Gratitude for simply being alive. This is aligning with nature. As you stand in this awareness of gratitude, you silence the static of fear, doubt and worry and become open to allowing wisdom, guidance and direction to come through you. You can hear the guidance of your soul.

Tony Robbins suggests making gratitude part of a daily ritual. First thing in the morning or last thing before you go to sleep, review all that you have to be grateful for. It is also said that saying it outloud gives it more power and writing it down even more than that. There is even a website called Gratitudelog.com where you can express your gratitude, share it with your facebook friends if you like or just keep it private. It even gives the option to prompt you by email if you forget to add to it daily.

So today I begin my daily practice of gratitude and continue to be receptive to the lessons and teachers that will present to me- like any good student.
